Jeremy's mother showed her love by cooking and cleaning and collecting
recipes and making curtains for the dining room and organizing PTA
fundraisers and fluffing pillows and taking temperatures and tucking in
and picking up and mending and gluing and finding lost toys and telling
Jeremy everything he needed to do.
"Brush your teeth, dear." and
"Have you finished your homework?" and
"Make a decision."
"Have you met any nice girls at school?"
"You need to get out more."
"Have you found a Summer job?"
"Take a chance once in a while."
"Have you put on clean underwear?"
Then she'd kiss him on the forehead and send him off to bed.
Jeremy loved his mother, but knew he'd never hear everything she had to
say.
