12/05/25 – Exactly What Happened

|

Lasper began walking after Val who was walking away. Lasper tried to explain his request, "I just need a little time, Val so I can tell the rest of the crew at a pace they can handle." Val held up a hand and moved it like a puppet head and said, "Blah blah blah blah blah." Lasper spread his arms wide and said, "They can be a little judgy about this sort of thing, especially with you being from a dark planet. Well, in consciousness at least." Val looked back at him, annoyed, and said, "That's fine." Lasper said, "I'm kinda getting the impression from you that it's not fine." As droll as she could, Val said, "Oh, that. I'm just practicing being distant." Lasper said, "You don't have to be distant, Val." Activating the wheels on her roller skates, Val said, "Oh, don't worry. It's not difficult. It's quite easy for me. I've been practicing being distant for the last thirty years of dating because of guys like you who can't commit." As she rolled away, Lasper yelled after her, "Okay! I get it now! You're right! It was an insensitive blunder! I understand! now I see exactly what happened!" When she was out of hearing, he said to himself, "I have no idea what just happened."
