It’s a double strip today. It’s a silly gag, but it made me giggle, and I needed a whole page in order to do it.

The Clentitian grabbed his head and said, “Gah! I’m so stupid! Of course they put me here! It’s the only way to guarantee my silence!” Val asked, “What about escape pods?” The Clentitian said, “They’re all welded to the ship so that no one will try to escape. And all tools, welding equip-ment, and communicators were removed too.” Suddenly from a bunk above, Gerek appeared and said, “Val? Audri?” In unison they both said, “Gerek!” As Gerek began climbing down the ladder from his bunk, the Clentitian screamed “A Bollyck!” And every person in the hallway slammed shut their bunk door. Audri said, “If i ever throw a party and it’s running late and I want everyone to leave, can I call you up?” Gerek paused, arms crossed, non-plussed, and then said, “Yeah sure.” Audri followed up, “Do you mind also helping with the dishes?”

It’s nice to see old friends … though meeting them on a one way trip into the sun takes a bit of the shine off it.
It can only get brighter.
You know what they say: things are always darkest before you get shot into the sun.
????
Okay, an attempt to shoot a “thumbs up” to that comment failed, but know that I tried.
I get the feeling Clentity’s travel plans for undesirables have been Bollycked.
And, we are glad that you did! (draw a double strip). What we need now are a few unclamped Eebs to torch the planet and confuse the Otto Pilot into constantly flying between the two fireballs in the sky until our other friends can get here.
What happens to the Captain and crew?
Unless they’re suicidal, do they have an escape plan, or could they be made to re-route the ship?
As KQY said, it’s probably on Otto Pilot … and that bot is probably none too happy about it. Can they convince it to override it’s programming?
Clentity probably cultivated an autopilot with suicidal tendencies just for this.
Who knows, maybe that was how they got the idea in the first place: coming across an autopilot that had to be persuaded not to dive into the sun.
Cue Pink Floyd: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JcfgJrHo9XA
@David, @KQY and @Efogoto are right, autopilot. But fair point, so in yesterday’s strip I just edited in “autopilot” into the last panel.
Like wiping fog off the mirror, that’s cleared the view!
I love panel 4, both for the wide angle and for the random aliens!
Still the master of unwilled diplomacy and tact, Gerek is, I see. Now let’s find out if Val and Audri are bright enough to use his talent to get them out of there.
So you’re saying you wouldn’t have invited Gerek to the party normally? For shame Audri.
She’s still focused on getting everything she can from him.
Why are so many people in your strip just awful in a Seinfeldian kind of way? This is from someone who considers a good year one in which I can avoid human conversation for months at a time.
No Bollycks for YOU!
Bollycks are among the likable ones, along with Bikkie, Murdock, and the cat whose name I forget. Tonto? No… Tourmaline? No… Too much trouble to backtrack But I will because I am retentive and obsessive. Purrloin. That’s an awful name. Makes me think of meat theft.
I hear you @gridsleep, and your comment (here and elsewhere) have been noted. But I happen to like most of the characters in this current run of Spacetrawler. I think they have good hearts. Yes, they have their blind idiotic moments, like we all do, and mostly in the name of humor. Even Thoos has some redeemable moments.
So, please. A little more gentler with the words on how much you don’t like aspects the strip. It’s very discouraging.
