PS: Biscuits and gravy is way underrated as a meal. It fills you, sticks to your ribs in cold weather, is generally relatively inexpensive and usually delicious. I prefer dried beef gravy or a good, sausage gravy.
The Painted Hills sure don’t look as big as they did when I was a kid, but I still think they’re pretty impressive for the color contrast. This is a good time of year to be out there, though – I bet you saw lots of wildflowers!
Love the new Fossil Beds visitor center/museum, too. Always worth the drive out.
