|

Title: Gilboa Hill Panel 1: Drawing of me whipping an electrified tennis-racquet shaped bug zapper around me, zapping them left and right. Caption, "It's been raining a LOT, and due to all the mosquitoes I've started always wearing pants and long-sleeve shirts at home, and using the Bug racket zapper in earnest (makes me feel like a samurai Jedi)." -- Panel 2: Drawing of me in bed with Brinnie the cat on the foot of the bed. Caption, "Brinnie no longer resides in only the back bathroom, and now even sleeps on the bed with me." -- Panel 3: Drawing of a bird feeder covered in bananaquits. Caption, "And some daily rituals I haven't mentioned: Refilling the sugar-water for the hummingbirds and bananaquits." -- Panel 4: Drawing of a bunch of chickens outside the kitchen window. Caption, "Throwing rice and cracked corn to the chickens out the kitchen window." -- Panel 5: Drawing of two bullfinches by a bowl and a cardboard cover over some birdseed. Caption, "Putting out sunflower seeds for the Bullfinches (and putting it away before it gets dark so the rats don't snack on it)." -- Panel 6: Drawing of me reading a book at a bar. Caption, "1/23/23 - another solo date at Cool Corner, and I finished reading MFK Fisher's The Gastronomical Me, which is one of my favorite most inspiring books in years." -- Panel 7: Drawing of me writing in a notebook by the Atlantic coast. Caption, "1/25/23 - I walked down to the ocean and wrote the first poem I've written in a year-and-a-half. It was okay." -- Panel 8: Drawing of me hiking up Gilboa hill, looking back over the island and the Quill Volcano and St Kitts in the distance. Caption, "1/26/23 - I hiked Gilboa Hill this morning, and made it to ledge #1 and 2. I'm convince that pretty much every view of the island is a gorgeous one." -- Panel 9: Drawing of me in some shade on a picnic table bench looking out to sea. Caption, "I received sad news from back in the states, and just let myself spend the afternoon sitting with it. I walked down to Oranje Bay and sat at the little Scubaqua beach in the shade watching the waves roll in." -- Panel 10: Drawing of me walking among people, me carrying some food I just bought at a food counter. Caption, "Esther invited me to the monthly "Taste of the Caribbean," and I hung out on the big cement bleachers with her and her friends Mary and Jamie. It was basically two long rows of food stalls and a stage for music all outdoors. I had a eggplant/pumpkin curry roti from the Guyanese counter."
