In the lounge of Lasper’s ship, a midi-bot was implanting language chips on Lasper, Audri, and Val. Lasper said, “Okay, those temporary tooth caps will sound-cancel your voice and replace it with english.” Audri said, “Are you saying that Val and I aren’t speaking english right now?” Lasper said, “You’re speaking Tithoronian. When the consciousness transfer happened, it must have left the wernicke area of your cerebral cortex intact.” Looking distract, Audri said, “The words I’m saying aren’t the words I think I’m saying? As an occasional writer of poetry, I find that very distressing.” Val said, “I don’t even want to think about what mental gymnastics my brain would be doing if I attempted a crossword.”

Where people from other languages, hearing one they didn’t know, would say, “It’s Greek to me!”, the Greeks instead say, “I am hearing a sermon in Turkish.”

Sorry to have to report website difficulties, Christopher. Yesterday the site would not load in Firefox at all, and today it refused to get me to Monday’s strip without the message, “Error establishing database connection.” Not sure what’s happening, but I thought I should report what I’ve seen. Now I’ve got to get to my bookstore and get me some Willoweep Manor.
