Maybe you should grab them just in case.” Indignant, Val said, “‘in case’ I never come back?” Earnestly, Lasper said, “Yeah.” Val said, “No, Lasper. I don’t want anything. Hm. Actually I do. Hold on.” She left the room and came back with some notebooks and said, “Diaries. I want to burn them. I wasn’t always flattering to Jo in them, and I’d hate for her to read them and feel that i betrayed our friendship in any way.” Jo then entered the room and said, “Oh good, you got your diaries. I thought you might want them, although they weren’t very good reading.”
