10/29/25 – At The Races

Riding their hoverbike atop a ridge, Knox said, "How do you think this thing handles a big jump, drop, and landing?" Rodrigo leaned his shoulder relaxedly on Knox's shoulder and said, "Jow do you think a goldfish jockeying a monkey handles a horse race?" They then rode the hover bike off the ridge (maybe 50 feet tall?) and then hit the sand with a BWOUND and bounced up somersaulting forward and then returning to normal propulsion right beside Picknar and Thoos again, who had watched the whole thing wide-eyed. Thoos, annoyed, said, "Will you two stop goofing off. Spizz is serious about catching us!" Rodrigo replied, "'Goofing off'? We may have just discovered the luckiest goldfish/monkey combo in the universe."

I’ll bet Thoos and Picknar are regretting not drinking THEIR bottles of melomel first.

  1. Hmm. I’m afraid I had to read the descriptive text to figure out what happened — with only the sound effect in panel 3 to hint that they were going back up again, I was left to wonder why, after a solid landing, they ended up doing another summersault (and how).

Say, that reminds me. How’s Spizz handling the now-enraged grey miters? Even counting the occasional fatality, there seem to be enough to make his day a lot less comfortable than he expected.

Switching to lemonade. Hurts less when I snort it out my nose.

Kind of reminds me of the last time I went sledding, lost control of the sled and went over a small (1 meter/3-4 feet) cliff. But it was a less lucky goldfish/monkey combo – while I did set the landing, I also broke my tailbone, demonstrating why sledjumping is NOT an olympic discipline
