12/19/25 – Their Busy Bodies

|

Val said to Audri, "I thought love was maybe alive, just for a minute there. But, no. Being asked to hide one's affection is always the only nail a coffin needs. Love is dead and buried." Audri added, "With the shovel set on fire and thrown away." Then Audri asked, "Did you find out anything about our bodies while you were down there?" Val said, "It seems our guess was correct, that they were inhabited by the aliens whose bodies we're in. Somehow those two, along with two other guys and your cat, hitched a ride off of earth." Looking a little sad, Audri said, "I suppose it's some comfort knowing she's living her best life." Val commented, "Owner suffers, but cat comes out on top in the end. sounds about right."

And we be their willing slaves. 🙂

He wrote “The Cat Who Walks Through Walls”, which I haven’t read but according to the synopsis, it has a cat and takes place in space, so it likely features at least one cat in space.

He also wrote “The Door into Summer”, which doesn’t feature space, but it does have a cat as a prominent character (it also has an adult protagonist grooming a young girl into being his future wife, so there’s that). (And yes, cats will absolutely look for that one door that leads into summer and will complain that you’re opening it wrong if there’s winter behind it.)
