02/04/26 – Worth It

|

Gerek jumped out of the airlock with no ship attached and floated over to the escape pod which had Audri and Val in it. He then took a long crowbar and started trying to pry the escape pod away from it's welded connection. During all this, Audri was yelling, "Gerek! What are you doing?! Stop! Stop! Don't save us and not yourself! Your life is worth just as much as ours! Because we're all worth it! Bollycks! Humans! Um... and I guess Tithorons - or their bodies at least! We all are! Just go back inside and I'm sure we can come up with a plan that saves all of us." Feeling this was futile, Audri said to Val, "What can we do, Va?! He's ignoring us!" Val said, "Well, sound doesn't exactly travel in a vacuum." Bouyed by this, Audri said, "Oh right! Do you think he knows ASL? I took a class in high school." Val said, "Well... but you're also correct in that he's totally ignoring us."

Not much a good long crowbar can’t fix.

I think it was established in a previous strip that Garek is vacuum-proof. If so, he just has to hitch a ride when he gets loose. How to get inside before reentry is a Problem For Another Time.

Well, a good long crowbar is pretty useful, but in a situation like this I’d prefer a good powerful laser cutter (dialled down to cut about a half inch of steel only).

Welds are hard to break with muscle power alone, aren’t they? Might be easier to break off some nonstructural parts to ensure your getaway. And making your entrance quick; so far as I know, Tithorons are NOT vacuum-proof.

      Hi,

I always have to use a grinder of some sort. Angle, Die, etc. Sometimes a big, fat Bastard file. So, no. Not easy at all. Well, aluminum isn’t too bad. Maybe that is an aluminum hull. No need to use fancy super-tough Hullmetal for a ship on a short, one way trip.
