Audri and Val returned to the seats of the escape pod. Audri said, “Hey, val, you don’t look so well. In fact you look absolutely awful.” Val did look awful, and she said, “I assure you, I feel worse than I look.” Audri said, “Maybe you should’ve let that medi-bot check you over. Do you remember that moment?” Taking a sip from her drink, Val said, “Yes, I still do. Why do you think I’m drinking?” Audri said, “Fair. Sigh. We do spend an awful lot of time in escape pods, don’t we?” Val said, “Depressingly true. Wscape pod, where are we heading?” The escape pod said, “We can go back to Clentity, or on to Huark.” Audri said, “Surely there are other places. We know Clentity is terrible. And Haurk? They’re willing to give it to homeless people, so it must be even worse.” The escape pod said, “In our range, the only other choice is into the star.” Audri said, “Honestly, the star sounds like our best option.” But Val immediately said, “Don’t listen to her! we’d like to go to Haurk, please!”
