It’s strange the quirks about people which attract us. And lovely.

Lasper said, “Rodrigo, you had one job! To keep us safe! and you failed because you went and got a drink!” Rodrigo said, “I know. And it wasn’t even a very good drink.” Throwing his hands in the air, Lasper said, “Trust is built on being a person who does what they promise! Someone who puts the people he loves ahead of impulsive whims! So, how do we know that if you do have a plan that you won’t conveniently forget to tell us someth-” Rodrigo interrupted him and said, “Audri and Val are on planet Haurk.” Caught off guard, Lasper said, “What…? you…? how…?” and then he paused, and then calmly asked Knox, “And you find this attractive?” Looking at Rodrigo who was sporting a cheshire smile, Knox said, “Oddly, yes.”

People tell bartenders EVERYTHING. Like the guy who bragged about having a tank-desk…
Wait, I’m missing something… How did the bartender know? Does he listen to the emergency escape-pod bands or something?
I think this was covered on a previous strip — the bartender was speculating that they might have been picked up and shipped off.
Everyone’s supposed to be sent to Haurk. It’s not secret knowledge about the escape pod, it’s common knowledge about the claimed destination of the spaceship.
The lush comes through! Well! Let’s go get Audri and Val and celebrate with a drink, shall we?
I looked back at previous strips and found the bartender telling Rodrigo. WHat I also found is that Haurk and Huark are both used in the story:
05/01/26 – How Trust is Built
Rodrigo interrupted him and said, “Audri and Val are on planet Haurk.”
04/01/26 – A Wafting Breeze | Spacetrawler – Christopher Baldwin
Lying around in the escape pod on planet Huark …
03/30/26 – Point Of No Return | Spacetrawler – Christopher Baldwin
The escape pod said, “Too late. We’ve already entered Huark’s atmosphere”
03/23/26 – Awful And Yet Not So Awful | Spacetrawler
Val said, “… now we’re off to Haurk. …”
The escape pod said, “Haurk is one planet closer to the star than Clentity.”
03/06/26 – Shooting His Shot | Spacetrawler
The bartender said, “Well, all homeless people on the planet were arrested and shipped off to planet Haurk to colonize it.”
02/11/26 – Always a Third Option | Spacetrawler – Christopher Baldwin
The escape pod said, “We can go back to Clentity, or on to Huark.”
Audri said, “… We know Clentity is terrible. And Haurk?”
Val immediately said, “… we’d like to go to Haurk, please!”
01/16/26 – Not Hacked | Spacetrawler – Christopher Baldwin
The Clentitian said, “… go to planet Haurk …”
For years — years, now! — I’ve been fighting the urge to copy-correct everything. Once an editor, always an editor, you know. And now you’ve set me back. Thanks a lot! Now I’m just glad Val and Audri aren’t stranded on planet Hawk Tuah.
Sorry Pete, I didn’t mean for my reaction to a trigger to trigger you. This is the way avalanches start.
