I just love how tough and straightforward Pilot is. It’s been interesting creating characters who felt different from the original Spacetrawler crew, but who fit in the story, tone, and humor of the overall comic. I’m very proud of her.
Pilot just needs to remember that even if Hwan is too blitzed to feel pain, that doesn’t mean serious damage isn’t being done when an arm as thick as his head impacts him.

Heck, I’m very proud of all your characters! What amazes me is how diverse they are and yet how well they work together (in both the literal and literary sense). They’re all very believable too in a sci-fi webcomic. Anesu’s treading on thin ice with Pilot. I’m surprised at how tolerant Bikkie is with her.
I’ve read how some writers explain how a story was going to be only a few months long but developed a life of its own and continued for a couple of years. Characters practically wrote themselves and chance visitors moved in and became important characters. While I know you certainly wouldn’t have everything written down from beginning to end, I’m curious to know if you’re sure of the direction your story and characters are going. How much are you?
I know who the characters are and their personal story-arcs, although that has and does change. I know the basic direction of the story, although that has and does change. But I’m pretty solid on the general story for the next have year or so.

@Jude, I just read an interview with the guy who wrote “The Martian” and now has just released “Artemis”. He noted that at the beginning the character of Jazz was a very minor character, mostly because he needed a smuggler. When that fizzled out, he started writing a story where Jazz came in for comic relief as a mid-ranged character. Then he realized that Jazz had all the great lines, so he threw out the other possible plotlines and wrote the story to make Jazz the main character. It works.

Pilot is a great character and you should be proud of her (and the rest)! She’s nothing like Pilot from Farscape, but they have a few similarities, mainly in their practicality. I’m just glad you’re still telling the story and sharing it with us. 🙂

Well, maybe 90% of the fun. We grasp what’s going on through them, since it’s their story and we’re just along for the ride.
Like a certain bag of snakes I heard of, actually.

I heard some stories about characters who seem to move in ways not planned. It just shows how in depth our minds really are. The kind of complexity that would be very hard for any but a weak A.I. to possibly accomplish. Conscious and unconscious thought like being on a computer while the unseen programming does its work behind-the-scenes.
Every writer is different yet they all have similarities.Such are we, living oxymorons who are each an individual and yet all related and very similar otherwise.
The stories and characters flow so naturally I never experience any kind of jarring dissonance with them. It all fits as if they were born to it and the story was just unfolding like it had to. Every segment of the story interests me and I look forward to see what happens next since I rally can’t predict what is coming next. A fine way to write and illustrate.
