03/22/24 – KlopeyKlope Disease

Still in the restaurant bar, Picknar said, "anyhow, it's really important I get back into space. And quickly." Knox asked, "what? do you have some dinner party to attend to?" Lifting their hands in a gesture of explanation, Picknar said, "no. I have Klopeyklope disease. Or, well, my body on Titheron does. Which is so uncommon that it took several specialists before I was diagnosed." Thoos commented, "never heard of it." "Exactly," Picknar said, "very rare. And it doesn't affect my life much except stomach pains. But if I don't take my meds regularly, I'll die." Thoos said, "I'm amazed they let you participate in this study with a condition like that." Picknar turned to Thoos and said, "like you, I lied on my résume." Annoyed, Thoos gestured at themseleves and said "well, at least I had a good reason." Now it was Picknar's chance to be annoyed, and they said, "I need money for the meds, or, like I said, I die." Not impressed, Thoos exclaimed, "you think dying is bad, have you ever had to have dinner at senator Kidgel's house? shudder."

I’m back! Regular strips again. I’ll try not to take TOO long to get to drawing/coloring the rough version I posted the last two weeks.

It was a good trip. Good to see family and friends. And now it’s good to be home again. 🙂

If Picknar were more evil, they’d say it was really important they DON’T get back, for the same reason. In Val’s body, they won’t die from KlopeyKlope. Or maybe they didn’t think of that.

I have a feeling that Picknar was diagnosed by a doctor who specializes in disease of the gullible. “No, no. An antacid won’t help. You have … KlopeyKope disease. It needs to be treated a far more expensive medication … that I will supply to you … at a discount, so that you will get the very best from me.”

It’s kind of hard to believe they survived long enough to get diagnosed if the meds were actually all that necessary.

Of course, everybody dies eventually, so “If you don’t take these, you’ll die” is technically correct.
