From time to time I love me some Judy garland. 🙂

Still at the restaurant, Rodrigo has pulled out his smartphone and said, “since you’re stuck here, why don’t you try to enjoy what earth has to offer? Here’s a cultural experience you can try out.” And with a tear rolling down his cheek he said, “this is Judy Garland.” With a look of well-worn exasperation, Knox said, “you’re a sentimental putz, Rigo.” Picknar looked at Rodrigo and observed, “your face is wet. It appears our species have crying in common.” Looking down, Thoos said, “huh. My seat is suddenly also wet is that another form of human crying?” Rodrigo and Knox stood up to go and Knox said, “and now they’ve peed themself, we have to take them home.” Knox then pulled out Val’s wallet and pulled out some bills and said, “here’s your promised money lesson. It came to about 50 dollars. Twenty percent tip is an additional 10, putting it at 60. I’m leaving an extra 10 because they’ll have to clean up urine. Picknar, please keep your parts down there somewhat clenched, so you don’t, pee yourself as well.” Picknar nodded. As they all started exiting the restaurant, Thoos said “ugh. being human is weird.” Rodrigo said, “you want weird? Wait until you explore the internet.”
I mean, at least they’re feeling relaxed, right?
The waitress thought one regular was weird, and now she’ll think another regular is irregular.
Not to add yet MORE non-drawing stuff, but do you have a discord channel yet? (Someone here might be able and glad to assist you!)
@Meran. I don’t! I’ll add it to the very long dusty list! :-/ (honestly, it is an excellent idea)
So… 20%? Generous. I’m a firm 15% guy. Am I bad? In Canada restaurant staff get minimum wage ($16.55) so they don’t get rich, but they don’t get robbed by making less than min. wage. Am I bad (seriously – someone absolve me).
No, you’re not bad. The situation for minimum wage workers in America has been deteriorating for some time, and even with raises in the minimum wage in some states the wage inequity is still bad and getting worse. You should take a look at Barbara Ehrenreich’s “Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By in America” for a look at how bad it was ten years ago. It’s worse now. Not your fault.
Here in the US, wait staff don’t even get min wage, and I still leave a 10-15% tip.
Not only that, but some of them get taxed AS IF they did get 20% tip! Imagine getting taxed on money you did NOT take home. The tax offices “know” that ppl aren’t recording what they get, so it’s assumed and taxed.
We sometimes tip more because of that.
In the UK a 20% tip is completely over the top. For something that only cost $50 to start with I probably wouldn’t tip at all.
I hate tipping when abroad. It’s mental torture, I have no idea what is expected. Why can’t the price on the menu cover the cost?
Japan is great. If you leave a tip the most likely result is someone runs after you saying “Hey you left this behind”.
