So, you may be wondering what happened here. I had drawn the entire page taking place about the G.O.B. Spacetrawler, but where we left the cast was on the wingship. So their first interaction with aliens (Gurf) would have happened there. I think @Frankie_D was the first to notice (thank you!). Anyhow, it meant I had to redraw the page. Although I was able to keep most of the character drawings and just switch out the background, thank goodness. There’s a second image there today of the bottom half of the original incorrect version, in case you find that interesting

I must confess, I don’t remember the precise scene/story, but I suspect that third panel was inspired by Bugs Bunny.

In the wingship, Picknar and Thoos sat at a table, and Knox cradled Rodrigo in his arms. A large alien had entered, which for those of you who have read earlier Spacetrawler stories know to be Gurf. Knox pointed at him and started screaming, “auugh!! Auuuuuuugghhhh!!!!!!” Looking up at Knox, Rodrigo said, “don’t you think that’s a bit over-reacting? use your words, Knox.” Knox continued screaming, “auuuuuuuuuugghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!” Looking at Picknar and Thoos, Rodrigo explained, “we’ve been working on our language skills, but he still gets anxious. Don’t worry this will pass.” Gurf then lifted a gun in the air, and Knox pointed at it and yelled, “take cover! It has a gun!” Then Knox leapt at Gurf, and grabbed him around the waist, with Gurf not being affected at all. Struggling to wrestle Gurf, Knox said, “nng! Grrf! Gnar! Ruh!” Looking at them, Rodrigo said, “Knox, stop fooling around and let the nice alien be.” Knox, still with his arms and legs around Gurf like he was climbing a tree, looked back at Rodrigo. Then Knox got down, and pointed at Gurf and said, “okay. But you stay there until we figure this out.” Gurf spoke in a language unintelligible to them, which translated as “hur! I’ve already figured out that you think I’m a bad guy.” Knox said, “incoherent gibberish isn’t helping your case.”

Funny how the wingship feels like coming home. Are there still robot mice aboard the mothership?
I don’t think so? I’ll have to look back to double check. But I think the robot mice from the Strib ship all went back to the GOB Spacetrawler, and then all left with the bar bot in a sack. But also, maybe some were left behind? I’ll think on that.
Yeah, [talk to us] “now! Or see us no more!” is pretty definite.

Thanks for checking. I should’ve done that myself.
The tiths should recognize the translator chipper for what it is and tell them it’s not a weapon.
.
“To avoid an interstellar incident, let’s say my friend was grateful for you saving our lives, and was hugging you.”
“Hur! //Yes, let’s say that.//”
“Whatever you say, or said.”
I take it that Knox hasn’t been translator-chipped yet?
You might be thinking of Calvin and Hobbes instead:

@Konrad, Ha! I don’t think so, but that’s a hilarious one. 🙂
“…but I suspect that third panel was inspired by Bugs Bunny.”
I believe it would the cartoon where he was wrestling a really big guy instead of dealing of dealing with Sam or Fudd.
You want Bunny Hugged.

No, my children did NOT watch our Warner Bros. collection at least 1 billion times while they were growing up, why do you ask?
So chip them already. Do Knox first.
That’ll go well … “Look out! It’s pointing the gun at you!”
Panel six made me think of an overly affectionate pooch.
I wonder who all is in Nogg’s crew? Ruddock? Stangor? How about Ciara?
Christopher, you have so many fun choices to add on. 🙂 (Bikkie?) 🙂 🙂
Unassimilable/uncomprehending characters are a source of endless fun, aren’t they? No matter how ordinary the weird situation becomes, they can be counted on to freak out and do something unexpected. Grab that weapon! Pull that lever! Jump out the window! Oh, the hilarity that follows!
