03/07/25 – Social Contract

In the Sandwich Cell, Rodrigo said, "So, Thoos. This prison is in your childhood home. Do you know of any way out of it?" Thoos said, "No." Looking around, Rodrigo said, "That's a pity. We are a bit cooped up and it is a dull room." Thoos yelled at him, "Will you stop nattering on like someone who doesn't care about tragedy?" Rodrigo said, "Tut. I find tragedy to be one of the most entertaining narrative forms." Upset now, Thoos said, "There's a social contract, Rodrigo. And it's been broken. Parents treat their children with utter annoyance and distain! And then children rebel against them! And that cycle of family conflict continues until everyone becomes bored with it. That's! How! Things! Go!" Rodrigo said, "I see. And so what you're suggesting is that imprisoning and torturing is..." Thoos yelled, "Not in the social contract!"

And this page is ALSO page 100. Just the second half. Which, okay, is a little less climactic. But yay anyway.

For those who might not have been around at the beginning of all these wonderful SciFi stories : They used to be twice a week, but they were twice as long. This way, three a week, half as long, works out better for me. And for the Author, I hope! 🙂

Waiting for Godot, or at least his text.

I notice that out of six panels, three of them have that window centered in the middle distance. And there’s some sort of device or apparatus or mechanism shown on the other side of it. Oh, and that there seems to be a passageway extending out of view on both sides. Now why is that, pray tell? And aside from Thoos’s distraction, what’s keeping the captives from checking it out? Mm?
