As Audri and Val got carried on stretchers into Lasper ship, Audri turned back to the desert and said, “Gerek?” She then leapt off the stretcher, handbells flying everywhere, and ran into the desert, yelling, “Gerek!” And there he was, and she ran towards him, tears pouring from her eyes. But when she leapt into his arms, it seems he was just an illusion of probbaly the desert and the drink, and she fell face-first into the sand with a spufff! and she exclaimed, “oof.” Rodrigo approached her as she lay there in the sand. Audri said, “Well, that wush emberrshing.” Grinning, Rodrigo said, “Think of it more as ‘entshershaining’.”

I’m assuming Gerek is still alive, because I don’t think there’s any way he could be a child of Mr. Zorilla, and Nogg isn’t around to get him killed in any case.
I agree Gerek is alive. Any idea which character is Mr. Zorillas child this time, I’m between Rodrigo and Val.
@Lucid_One, I could leave you in suspense… but I’m pretty sure I’m done with that line. I call the first three books the “Zorillogy.” Now I can find new families to drag through the mud! 🙂

Audri abandoned her bells to grasp at the phantom of Gerek. Hm. I think we can presume this is a serious attachment. As Lasper’s is with Val. And now the whole Third Act of “Much Ado About Nothing” is going through my head at warp speed. I’m a-gonna take a bicarb and lie down a bit, if you don’t mind.
