10/16/26 – Schlorrrrp!

When they reached the other side of the bridge, Lasper hit the "close bridge" button, and it rotated to its useless position. Napforth appeared at the other side, shooting his laser, but they escaped unharmed. They then came to the green glowing gel filled room, and Gerek said, "Oh, wow. A Klauzian gelatinous blob. So that's what they look like." Picknar ran the keycard and the blob retracted with a "Shlorrrrp!" They can through and then the room filled again behind them with a "Bloootch!" Audri said to Gerek, "I have to confess, the Klauzian blob looks kinda delicious. What do you think it tastes like?" Gerek replied, "You mean aside from 'like death'? I don't know, maybe slightly minty?"

Oddly, growing up as a vegetarian, I only had “jello” once or twice, and that with agar agar rather than gelatin. So I don’t have the same “yum” reaction to bright green jello, but I know people who do. 🙂

  1. Efogoto

I am reminded of D&D’s dungeon crawling Gelatinous* Cubes … another thing that probably tastes like death. Never saw any whipped cream on one, never thought to taste one, did get dissolved by a couple.

    * – Hard not to be, what with the word Gelatinous in there.

  2. Actually, on further thought, the Klauzian kind of reminds me of Larry in Men in Black. Poor Larry. Just minding his own business, having fun being his best self, not bothering anyone, and he ends up being used to death by an uncaring beauracracy of self entitled old guys. He was my favorite character, too. And who do the MIB think they are protecting Human sensibility from knowledge of the existence of other species from other worlds? That’s like protecting white people from the existence of black people. What makes anyone think white people deserve that kind of privilege? Humans spend most of their time exterminating anything that doesn’t look like what they see in the mirror. Maybe we need fewer mirrors. Sorry. Nobody wants to hear me go on like that. I just have it up to here with the underlying issues that never get address after a thousand sessions of Congress, or, as Mark Twain put it, that Grand Old National Asylum for the Helpless, where he as a reporter was told to report on the inmates. Sorry. Still going on. I’m just peeved. Sorry.

  3. Wait. If Gerek had never seen a Klauzian gelatinous blob then how did he know he was looking at one right there? It would just be a glass door colored bright green. Also since Gerek is laser proof shouldn’t he be at the rear shielding everyone else? I guess this is my day to go on and on. Old man mode activate. Cue the clouds in the sky.

  4. Also oddly, humans are the only animals that think it is virtuous to collect karma brownie points by depriving themselves of the nutrition and delectation of animal flesh, when it is well known among realists and other literati that karma is a joke, no one is keeping points, and everything dies, so why not eat it while it’s fresh? As Denis Leary said, meat tastes like murder, and murder tastes good. And as the blind man said to Cord, “A fish saved my life once,” to which Cord queried, “How?” Replied the blind man, “I ate it.”
