  1. ….and the steam will boil you alive.

Sorry for being a science snot. Great story and art in Yontengu and Anna Galactic. They are on my short list of web comics to recommend, along with “False Positive,” “Bouletcorp,” and Jason Shiga’s “Demon.”

  2. Leidenfrost Effect.

  3. “Creating oxygen from the water”

You write these things just to taunt people like me 😛

  4. Heh, I was coming here to say the same Michael.

To be fair, Gorro is also the guy who designed magic melty gloves that you can never, ever take off or deactivate, so I’m going to go out on a limb and say thinking through the consequences of his ideas isn’t his strong point.

  5. (Oh, and the Leidenfrost Effect only works on a very short timescale – that’s why you never see people taking their sweet time with the “dipping your finger in molten lead/liquid nitrogen”.)

  6. Ya, when i saw the making oxygen in the script, i was like cool, it 40’s fantasy science that makes sense to 10 year olds. Perfect! I loved it

  7. Wow… that’s a fucking COOL suit!

  8. Behind the scientific references: nice “SPLOOSH”!

  9. @0z79, ehh. It needs a cape.

  10. @ MUZHIK:

  11. Would it kill exosuit designers to create helms that are actually airtight?

Anyone seen Arrow/Flash? The Atom glass (well, likely some plastic polymer etc.) visor leaves the mouth and chin wide open. Even if the suit protects your body from explosions, you would still die from the heat and the fumes.

  12. 2/3 hydrogen 1/3 oxygen. To dissociate water with heat requires 2000C, whereupon it would spontaneously ignite and the combustion would cause it to recombine into water.

Yeah, she’d be dry alright, just before being cooked. The gloves would need some fancy force field handwavium to shunt the heat away.

  13. The left glove has left-handwavium, and the right glove has right-handwavium. So she’s covered. 🙂
