We saw the other side of this strip here.
Ill be at the Glens Falls Chronicle Book Fair this Sunday in Glens Falls, NY! Come on by!
Looks like I might be doing Nanowrimo. (National Novel Writing Month, 50k words in November). I’ll know for sure by Monday if I crashed or burned — I’m sure it will be one of the two.
Okay, so I’m part of a Classic Genre Fiction Reading Group over on Goodreads, and in the spirit of Halloween we were to read Rosemary’s Baby. Now, I don’t watch scary movies or read scary books because for some peculiar reason I find that being scared is a very very strong emotion and is relatively unpleasant and so I’ve put it off to the very end of the month. But I must give it to Ira Levin, it’s an excellent read. I am totally paranoid now — and I haven’t even finished.
Anyhow, since Halloween falls on Wednesday, I’m guessing most of you have already done your spooky celebrating on the weekend. Nonetheless, Happy Halloween.
Sandy didn’t reach us, which is good for us. Everyone I know of in NYC is still fine, so that’s a relief, although it’s going to be a long painful clean-up for that city. Sending out good thoughts to NYC, Atlantic City, and all other places hit.
Oh, and Rebecca Clements is back from her sabbatical, providing weird cool comics to the internet once again.
Now I know why ships are called “she”. When they can talk, it’s girl talk.
For all the action that happens in this comic in spaceships, this is the first time the author used a “voice-command-interface-AI” that is a part of Sci-Fi convention. Not saying this is cliché, just that I’m surprised it hasn’t appeared before 😀
Did anyone else use / hear S.S. Myra’s voice for the ship’s dialog?
“We could jam in Choan’s Garage. We had no dope or LSD, just a couple of quarts of beer….” As opposed to the Airtight Garage…
Garage. hehe, garage…
..so the intonation would not offend your ear…
Joe’s Garage led to ZZakk’s Garage which is a secret entrance to ZZakk’s Lab. Fond too of the Airtight Garage but I thought the ending was rushed.
Having endured too many episodes of Knight Rider during my pre-cable youth I’m no fan of talking vehicles. Almost as annoying as C3PO. Better hope I don’t come up with a better plan while looking for that screwdriver.
I didn’t think of S.S. Myra this time. However, when reading S.S. Myra I try not to think of Zsa Zsa Gabor.
@Hank: I was specifically trying not to. That ship is a dirty, dirty piece of sentient machinery and Choan is more classy than that.
Dimitri seems to be anticipating and preparing for everything else. I think Shuar’s sudden arrival back in his life is going to be one of those things he didn’t plan for.
I really enjoyed the circular storyline on this one. Thanks!
