Holy crap. I finished “Willowweep Manor.” I did it.

In celebration, I kinda’ did nothing for a few days. Drove around. Had a burrito. Wasted time, which I haven’t been able to do in a year, and so was oddly a luxury.

But, yay. I did it. Um. Due out in the autumn and all that. I’ll keep you posted. πŸ™‚

    Congrats on Willowweep Manor!

I was going to congratulate you on the burrito Instead, but I like to think I’m nicer than that and am actually impressed by perseverance.

Congratulations on finishing “Willowweep Manor,” Chris! It is a real accomplishment, and I think your burrito and day off well-deserved. Looking forward to the published version in the fall; I expect to enjoy the hell out of it.

To matters at hand: The symbiont now deciding to speak up disturbs me. Never mind its wordless helpfulness in the pit below the Lapatrak street — symbionts invariably NEED something from their hosts. That physical safety and perhaps even transport are not what it seeks only means we go up the needs ladder to something higher. For humans, the next need would be shelter and food — neither of which seem to be necessary here — unless the symbiont is draining Tesfay of something vital, which doesn’t seem to be the case. If we go up the ladder from here, that means—

    Oh. Oh no.

The rules of Story prevent me from speculating further. But, Rikard, I think you’re on to something here. I hope I’m wrong — but I already know the next step of needs up from this and it is not better. Oh, no. No, it isn’t.
