I have begun the JOURNAL COMIC again. So far I’ve done four pages (about one per week, but I am doing them as life happens, and not according to any schedule). I waited to announce it to make sure I was genuinely starting it up again, and it wasn’t a flash in the pan.

Partially I’ve started it because life has begun to get interesting again, and partially because I’m feeling emotionally in a good place again, and partially because I may be spending several months in the Caribbean house-sitting (3 dogs, 1 cat, some chickens) starting in mid-December, and I want to remember that experience.

HERE IS A LINK to the FIRST of the recent four.

“Chiphu, what happened to your face?!”
“I was fooling around with this little monster and things got a little rough…”
    “Got your nose!”
    “Pally, give that back!”
“Remind me not to play games with the mice.”

Farlihnk didn’t explode into bubbles, so this gun is presumably set to stun. He should have zapped all four of them. In fact if he had zapped Farlihnk to begin with, instead of punching him, he’d still have his nose attached.

I actually appreciated that whole sequence. The cliché was to have big monster contraption break door, which kinda happened,,, but in a way I did not expect.

Hero, Runs for once instead of taking 10,000 bullets. Okay most heroes here get really hurt…

    But this was kinda original.

So what happened to Chiphu’s nose? I looked for it and couldn’t find it. Pally’s hanging onto the remote; no nose. No nose on the floor. No nose in the treads of the rammobile. No nose caught in the door tracks. Where’d it go? Was it left behind? This could complicate reconstruction. And it could leave something valuable behind for the Stribs to attempt to bargain with. I mean, should they find it. But it seems to be utterly missing. Not that Chiphu’s in any position to disagree, mind.

I’m still hoping that the puppy rearing thing will backfire, in the sense that having attentive, if not loving, caregivers will create a generation of nice Stribs.

But only, and ONLY, if the caregivers are consistent in applying discipline. You know, things like sticking to pre-determined (AND announced AND acknowledged) bedtimes; no teaching them that if they scream and cry in the store they’ll get what they wanted; no dismembering playmates during recess; things like that.
