05/15/24 – Why They Can’t Plan

|

Looking over the city, Audri said, "anyhow, I was thinking that maybe there's a captain on one of those ships who would hire us on. To not only get us back to earth, but also to get away from the authorities here." Smiling, fists raised, Val started heading out and said, "sounds good. Let's go." Eyes wide and hands up to indicate they should stop, Audri said "whoa. Whoa! Don't you think we should make a plan for this plan first?" Val said, "um. why?" Audri said, "we don't know what we're getting into." Val replied, "which is why we can't plan." Audri asked, "but what if there are spacefaring laws we don't know? Or contracts we're unaware of?" Trying to gesture 'explanation' with her hands, Val said, "which is why we can't plan?" A bit more agitated, Audri said, "what if we're coerced to become indentured servants? Or sold to slavery?" Val pointed at her and said, "which part of 'which is why we can't plan/ are you not understanding?" Fingers together in worry and wide-eyed, Audri said, "the part that doesn't assuage my anxiety." Rolling her eyes, Val said, "you're the one that got a kombucha rather than margaritas with lunch."

It’ll be amazing if they make it through all this alive. More from each other than what the plot has in store for them
