10/16/12 Mistaken, Forgiven

|

Just got back from a long day driving to and from Elmira, NY for sourcing reference material for a serial story I’m illustrating with Mike Peterson. And finally I got back and ALMOST finished the strip — but not quite. Can I just tell you? These GOB scenes with all the aliens are really kicking my butt.

Anyhow, will finish it up – again – by Wednesday by noon.

And Rachel? The archivist at the Chemung Valley Museum in Elmira? What a gem of helpfulness. Thank you, Rachel!

I rather like it this way. Dmitri in color, the rest in B&W. It makes him more and more the focal point of the speech, like a closeup, with everything else NOT Dmitri drained of color. The Herd, as it were.

@War_Pig, I agree, some of the unfinished pieces look pretty cool. But one thing I try to do with my projects is be consistent within the style I chose for the project. Which is also why I can simply simply draw circles for heads for all the crowds in the background. It’s all in focus. It’s where I started, and where the project will end. All in focus, all in color. Ah well. πŸ™‚

@Coyoty, slightly worded differently, but yes, exactly dead on.

Now that Dimitri has found his niche (and maybe Dustin will too, as Dimitri’s fool-in-residence at the GOB [aka “court jester]), I have one burning question: has therapy-bot made any progress with the psycho eebs?

Come to think of it, when we last left our heroes, they had traded places: therapy bot was making drinks and bar bot was treating Yuri. If that’s the case, who is keeping the psycho eebs well lubricated?

It was cool seeing how expressive you could make Dimitri here. I totally followed the emotions he was projecting and eliciting, just from the way you drew him in each panel. This was a lot of fun πŸ™‚
