It’s like a team-building exercise: it accomplishes nothing and inspires people to wish they could be at their desk working instead.

Watching Purrloin outside the window, Thoos said, “That one, and then that one. That one, and then that one.” Picknar joined in, saying, “Yes. That one, and then that one.” Rodrigo stood up and said, “Finally. Something fun to do.” The three of them all joined in together saying things like, “Come on, purrloin, that one, and then that one!” and “we’ll give you all sorts of treats if you do it,” and “Pss-pss-pss-pss,” and “You can do it!” and “Go for it, little buddy!” and “That one, and then that one.” Rodrigo, grinning, turned to Knox and said, “Come on, Knox. Don’t you have anything to contribute?” Knox contributed by saying, “I hope that cat falls off of that ledge.” Pleased, Rodrigo said, “Good man. That’s the spirit. Now come over here and join in on the fun while saying that.”

Chat the cat that sat with “That, then that!”, you prat!
A laser pointer would sure come handy at that moment…
I didn’t even think of that, but that could actually work!!
A mirror or any reflective surface could make a spot of light from the overhead lights. Maybe we need to go through Nogg’s belt again.
I can’t help but wonder: What’s Purrloin’s game here? Never mind being smart enough to converse; this cat is expecting things to go a particular way. But what? And where?
Purrloin is manipulating them like puppets and will only stop when it gets boring, which it shouldn’t with Rodrigo present. The others may be led to frustration but I think he will enjoy coming up with new ways to cajole the cat. Of course, the chance that the cat does what they want before it wanders off to explore is vanishingly small.
Ah, yes, entertainment! Always a high priority for any cat. If you can’t torture a mouse, a squirrel or a chipmunk, overly-focused humans are the next best thing. Thanks for the reminder!
Knox and Rico are exactly like me and my coworker in this strip, and your team building analogy just made that picture even more vivid.
