Lasper knows a good deal when he hears one.

Everyone met in the lounge on Lasper’s ship, Val, kniff, Audri, Gerek, Lasper, Picknar, Thoos, Knox, Rodrigo, and Yakky. Val said, “Okay. We asked you all here to tell you what’s going on and to see if you’ll join us. If you choose not to, we just ask for your silence.” They all agreed to this. Val continued, “Professor Loomp is the person who did the experiment on us, and Loomp is in a high-security prison, so we’re going to break them out.” Gerek said, “I’ll do it. What else do friends do together? Aside from every single pleasant thing that isn’t a prison-break.” Lasper said, “I’m in.” Yakky said, “I love you all, but I have some vacation time coming up I need to use.” Kniff aid, “Yeah. Same. We’re friends, but I hope you respect me for not going that far for you.” Val said, “Of course. We wouldn’t want you to join us unless you truly felt okay about it.” Lasper said to yakky and Kniff, “But, neither of you have vacation time.” Yaky said, “And while on vacation, Lasper, we won’t tell anyone about your involvement in this crime.” Lasper said, “Oh right, that vacation time.”

The desire to see Lasper mangle yet another relationship only goes so far to motivate you when the mission is certain death.
Later, on the Bollycks’ ship:
.
“Hey guys, Gerek wants us to help him break a prisoner out of Underrock!”
“See? He’s not a lost cause after all.”
Um, shouldn’t you tell them which prison you’re gonna be breaking Loomp out of? They might want to know that before committing. Either way, let the real planning now begin!
Well, wait until the ones-already-out have left the room before thickening the plot
Make sure to code your blackmail vacation days properly on your timesheet, guys.
“Register your crimes – it’s the law!”
Here we see the real work going into constructing a criminal conspiracy, when it only takes one squealer to bring the house down. Or the Law, same thing. Mind, now, this is still before they start looking at the details and figuring out how to break into a prison guarded, first of all, by acid rain, and without a back door. Much darkness and reluctance remain to be revealed, of which this poltroonery is but a foretaste. Whip it, Audri. Whip it good.
