05/26/14 Meeting No-Show

2014-05-26_oneway_1khd

Phew. What a couple of weeks. After Toronto, then a good friend came to visit, and then my sister and mom. It was so lovely to see them all, but it’ll also be so lovely to get back in my normal groove. Oh, but I did finish up the painting for my mom of my siblings and I. I still might tweak it over the next month, but essentially, here it is (in the last two stages of painting). I’m amazed at what a difference putting in the background did to the colors and feel. Fun! 🙂

Oh, and I must say, I’m REALLy impressed with the idea and vision of SOLAR FREAKIN’ ROADWAYS! I don’t know if this is the future, but I’m convinced it has potential to be. (here’s a link to their Indiegogo campaign)

05/02/14 What Angie Would’ve Done

2014-05-02_oneway_7sdd2

Been strange weather. low forties yesterday, low seventies today. Ah, spring in New England. Love it.

Went and saw “Noah” with  friend. A real mixed bag. Lotsa’ good stuff, but overall it felt like a mess. Too many characters and too much story, so it felt like nothing was done in depth enough. But, overall it was entertaining.

Oh, and I finally got around to buying a bus ticket for TCAF next weekend (a red-eye. My, won’t I be peaky!). Look for me tabling with the TopatoCo folk!

If you’re wondering all about THIS HIGGS DRIVE, there actually is a thorough history written of it by my friend/consultant Fred. READ IT HERE!

Had a nice weekend. Drove with my dad down to visit family in Philadelphia. Found out later that it was Easter, so that was maybe an extra bonus I guess? I got to play some golf, but I didn’t quite get under par.

04/14/14 What’s Up

2014-04-14_oneway_2jbd

Had a nice weekend. Read some of my poetry at a poetry reading at a friend’s house on Saturday. Saw some classical piano on Sunday. Enjoyed the warm spring sun.

Still trying to figure out why the heck my wordpress theme is not picking up on permalinks. The “next” and “previous” links only work from the home page, but they go along a different route than the actual archive pages (which are listed on the left). I added the BIG double-arrow navigators to the outside of the page, which work from the actual archive pages, so you can use those. The slowness is that I’m having to ask various people for help (it is beyond my knowledge) and although the people helping are absolute saints, it takes time to respond etc. But, hopefully up soon! (if curious, watch the exciting discussion here)

Editing editing editing. Finished up a new graphic novel (details to be released later, but the artist is not me), a new version of the Little Dee graphic novel (still in the scripting phase), one of my regular-ol’ novel-novels (writer’s group Thursday nights). If it weren’t for all the comicking and watercoloring and oil painting I also do, I might think I’d become a writer more than a cartoonist. ;-)

Oh, and hey, I’m going to try to overhaul the website this weekend, aiming for SUNDAY, so the page may be down for a bit somewhere/when then.

Have a great weekend!

03/31/14 Walking Outside

2014-03-31_oneway_9sdj2

Had a nice weekend. Made more muffins. Hung out with my sweetie and two friends, and we walked through Saratoga Springs up to the Tang Museum at Skidmore College. I was excited to see the Ben Katchor originals, but they were only prints. :(

Did a couple of watercolors in a cafe this weekend. One of a lighthouse in Ireland (I think it was somewhere north of Dublin), and the other from a road trip I took (YEARS ago) with my sister in Alaska.

03/24/14 Final Words

2014-03-24_oneway_1hhw

Ah, seeing the the Glens Falls Symphony Orchestra was nice. And it totally got my brain cells working too, which I love. I often come out of classical music with one or two new really good ideas. In fact, I wonder these days if I even enjoy the music as much any more, or if I just go to get ideas. Either way, it was great timing, as I’m working madly on two graphic novel scripts.

Saturday night I held my own playing “Sheep’s Head,” but Charlotte was the clear winner of the night. Next time. NEXXXT TIIMMMEEE! :)

Other than that, I’ve just been kicking around with my sweetie.

03/21/14 Duty Re-Assignment

2014-03-21_oneway_3knd2

Been busy writing. Finished the current draft of the Little Dee graphic novel script. Spent all day Thursday working on my regular novel, and will probably be on that all day Friday. Made a cake, and rice, and fed the birds, did laundry, etc etc. Good times.

Been social too. Thursday night was writer’s group and then drinks afterwards. This weekend I’ll be volunteering helping the Glens Falls Symphony Orchestra set up (and will get to see them perform Sunday) and then GAME NIGHT again on Saturday. More cards. Fun fun.

03/19/14 How To React

2014-03-19_oneway_8asd

Sweetie was totally sick on Monday,  which was sad. So I drew and took care of her and it was an indoor quiet day. Spent all day Tuesday working on the Little Dee graphic novel script. Considered going to studio drawing for about twenty seconds, but kept working. Painted a tad bit to relax. Ha!

My friend Matt is running a Kickstarter for his comic Catbeard. Solid stuff. Check it out. Here’s a link to the strip itself: Catbeard.
