10/03/14 Late Comers

2014-10-03_oneway_8ejo

I am nearing the end of my trip and I’m winding down. Feeling tired and brain-soggy and missing my routine diet, my routine exercise, my sweetie, my cats, and my bed.

Which leaves me with no idea what to blog about. πŸ™‚

Today, in Olympia WA I stopped in ONE of the best comic stores I’ve ever been in, Danger Room Comics, where I got to have a lovely conversation with Frank who ranks me as one of his most difficult to please customers EVER. Man-o-man do I remember him always trying to find something both to my taste and that I’d never read. But “The Rabbi’s Cat” and “Isaac The Pirate” I have to credit him with. Rock on, Danger Room.

A quick announcement. On October 14th, a new strip will be running here on Tuesday and Thursday, alongside “One Way.” The piece is titled “Julie Phazer, Hero of Sol” and is an action adventure sci-fi (occasionally comedic) story written by myself and drawn by the amazingly talented Don AhΓ©. I can’t wait to share it with all of you.

The convention was, indeed, a fine thing. Had some good conversations and the time passed quickly.

Ahhhh, it’s Wednesday. I’m down in the northern tip of California, visiting my sister. Beautiful area, although sad about theΒ toickly.

I’m writing this blog on Friday, so let’s ASSUME that I had a great time at the Rose City Comic Con. If Not, I’ll tell you all about it on Wednesday.

Lauren Davis over at “io9” added “Spacetrawler” to her list of 10 webcomics that would make great shows. That would be SO. MUCH. FUN.

Thursday was the rain date for Glens Falls APE Chalk Fest, where I was the featured chalked. it rained AGAIN. But was intermittent enough, and enough people showed up, that it went forward. However, I only had about half the time to work as I needed (due to the weather), and so I didn’t finish it. But I got the important parts done.

Or…. the full vid walk around.

Sweetie has been away on a trip, so I’ve been working every night until I drop. Nice to get caught up on things, and nice to get ahead right before I take a trip myself (next weekend I’ll be tabling at Rose City Comic Con). Also nice to not really worry about dishes for two weeks. πŸ˜‰

But tonight I went out to see a bluegrass trio, Harpeth Rising. Very enjoyable.

I made a lovely batch of snickerdoodles… well, ALMOST snickerdoodles. The few recipes I found didn’t use cream of tartar and I doubted my sanity that this is the defining ingredient. And was too brain fogged to research more. But later, refreshed by several cinnamon coated sugar cookies who WANTED to be snickerdoodles, I realized I had been right. Boys and girls, don’t believe a snickerdoodle recipe that does not include cream of tartar.

We actually got a few days of summer finally her in the Northeast. In the 80s, hot and humid. Except the evening I dropped off my sweetie’s car at the garage to walk home — at which point the rainstorm hit. Ha! But it was lovely. I like walking in the rain, real rain (as long as it’s warm out), and then I love the showering when home and putting on your evening dry bathrobe. Very comfy.

My sweetie’s mom was up for the weekend. A day of driving, movies, food, and general conversation. but now I need a weekend to relax. πŸ˜‰

Saw the new Woody Allen “Magic In The Moonlight,” which was a silly romance. I enjoy his films a lot, even the silly ones.

Oh, and I started a new painting. Just blocked it out, but I love “process” pictures, so I’m going to share it.
